Things to know before booking the Interrail Global Pass
- Selecting the right pass: To optimize the value of the Interrail Global Pass, tailor it to your travel requirements. Choose between continuous or flexi options and first or second class, based on your budget, itinerary, and comfort preferences.
- Child policy: Two children aged 4 to 11 can travel at no cost with an adult holding an Adult Pass (not Senior Pass). An additional Youth Pass is required for each extra child. Children below four years travel free if they don't occupy a seat.
- Activation process: Your pass remains invalid until activated through the Rail Planner app before your journey. Activation can be completed at any time within 11 months of purchase. In case of last-minute itinerary changes after activation, you can make modifications until midnight before your first travel day.
- Travel days: A travel day spans from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM CET and allows unlimited train rides within that period. Taking overnight trains without changing after midnight consumes only one travel day – the day of departure.
- Seat reservations: Seat reservations are not included in the Interrail Global Pass. Please take note of when reservations are necessary and secure them in advance.
- Night trains: Plan strategically to use night trains to save travel days. Although night trains often require reservations, they offer cost savings on accommodation.
- Travel documents: Ensure accuracy while providing passport details during purchase. Carry the Interrail Global Pass, passport with a valid visa or residency card, and seat reservation tickets (if applicable) while commuting.

When should I activate my Interrail Global Pass?
